About: Cindy Soo
Hi, I am Cindy and welcome to my blog!
Just a little about myself. I have been teaching and volunteering for various social causes for over 25 years! Recently I have returned to graduate school and am pursuing an Masters in Gerontology (you have to look this one up..^^)
Yes! Things can get pretty tough as an adult student but I really really do love learning.
Passing on knowledge of what I have learnt over the years comes really naturally to me as a teacher, writer and speaker.
Little Red Dot Mum was started in November 2015. It was born out of a personal wish of mine (as a mum) to leave a legacy to her children on how to raise a healthy family and a loving home. The blog does contain quite a few tips on parenting as well as quick ideas for cooking and hacks for housekeeping.
To explain how ‘Little Red Dot’ came about, the term just refers to the small island of Singapore (the country where I live) located in South East Asia and a quick add here, the flower tucked in that bright red icon (supposedly to be me!) is our country's national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim:)
Mine is an evolving blog (takes after its owner). The ideas and messages relayed are quite my own unless it is a researched article of which I will then include references. The purpose of the blog is to support multigenerational families to raise healthy families and loving homes!
Updates on my blog:
I recently launched a "Dear Children" series to relay some ideas in a friendlier way to my children and their friends (you have no idea how much angst and pressures the young adults are under these days!) I also then took the opportunity to include some takeaways for young families starting their own. Just my own thoughts that a happy family (or loving relationships) and healthy home is really the bedrock of a healthy mind and heart.
Do drop by often as my blog will keep evolving as my life continually keeps evolving too:)
Do write to me at littlereddotmum@gmail.com for clarifications or just to share your thoughts on some of the ideas that struck you after you read some here. It's always a pleasure to know new friends!
Cheers!!
You can touch them.. The reason is that simple.. Flipping the pages in a photo album is akin to how some people still like to read an actual book versus reading from a Kindle.. While others prefer to appreciate their photos from a digital source, my family members like to flip over each page of […]

I was in the waiting area in a doctor’s clinic the previous week and I overheard “Wait how long more..?” I knew what the lady meant.. She meant: ‘How long more do I have to wait?’ After all, it is common to hear a true-bred Singaporean omit parts of speech amongst other deletions in their […]

How to be encouraging? Be kind. You might be asking : What if I am not compassionate by nature, how do I egg that next person to carry on? Then I think the next best thing is empathy..being empathetic does help light up a candle in someone else’s dark space ..giving hope, love and cultivating […]

A couple of weeks ago, as Mother’s Day approached, I was feeling grumpy… Those advertisements from furniture and household appliances stores or chain restaurants promoting good deals weren’t doing much to lighten my mood either… Maybe age is catching up.. Then I went to revisit my children’s gifts to me every Mother’s Day (from the […]

FINANCIAL TOOL 1 – ‘FOUR JAR’ SYSTEM When my older daughter was in Primary school, she was able to buy a whole series of Winx Club magazines from her savings. She still has it – her pride, and joy (from two years of persistent saving) – and refuses to let me ‘donate’ it to charity. […]

Blogging did not occur by accident. I had been thinking about it for a while and one fine night just before the New Year chime rang signalling the end of 2012, and the start of 2013, I plunged into Google’s Blogger and the rest , as they say, is history. Other than finding the self-discipline […]

Teaching my children to cook an economical meal at home has always been one of my parenting objectives. I think all these years the only thing that has spurred me on to learn to ‘cook anything with everything’ has been the desire to impart to them the skills of menu planning for daily meal preparation After several years […]
